Spring Fling - (Thursday) May 14, 2015
Will also have an artist-in-residence to work half days with 2 different classes (will be working with Grade 5 and Grade 1/2)
Confirmed date for STEM Parent Information Night – Wednesday April 29 (for PRO Grant). MDM has spoken directly with one of the coordinators who will be assisting - contacted second coordinator via email.
Looking for ways to reward students who arrive to school on time. May use coupons for a free pizza slice. Consider Parent Council sponsorship of a bigger ticket item for a draw. Considering positive reinforcement for being on-time.
March 27 - will be acknowledging Earth Hour. Will be encouraging families to participate in Earth Hour.
Will do 1 more lock down practice and 3 more fire drills when it gets warmer.
Injury Prevention and Bike and Wheel Safety Presentation by Public Health Nurse- April 13.
April 21 - half day math professional development for staff.
Grades 5 & 6 going to Hilltop Orientation -May 5.
May 14 - first big track and field meet at Centennial Park.
Soccer teams and soccer team tryouts will be running.
Earth Day - April 22. Valleyfield will be doing a school yard clean-up on April 17th at 1:45.
Staffing allocation obtained - MDM will be meeting with staffing allocation committee. Model will be emailed to committee before next meeting as TDSB will need our plan for classes.
Monitoring students who may need additional assistance based on teacher feedback.
Planning for next 3 months was discussed at staff meeting. Graduation is last school Friday of June - June 19 (am).
Science Centre trip March 25 for Gr. 5. Other groups will be going later in the month.
Ski day was a big success (March 12).
Grad trip is in discussion - looking at doing a camp trip - June 22-24.
Play day theme will be Pan Am/Para Pan Am games.
Booked an ORF Kit - March 26 - will be in the school until the end of the year for teaching music.
$6,681.97 - balance.
Amount to be paid for second cooking class - $300. $500 allocated for supplies for cooking class but will likely not spend it all.
One more pizza lunch to occur.
$120 quoted for school banner.
$1000 allotted for playground equipment. Tri-hoop arrived March 24. Installation has been requested.
$900 allocated to Kindergarten Resource Kits.
Dance-A-Thon raised $3,024.00 net. $2,500 allocated for computers and $500 to go toward pinnies for sports.
Hit profit goal from pizza lunches ($2,000).
Next meeting date to be confirmed some time in May.
