December 7: Meeting highlights

 
Principal's comments:

• A warm welcome to our new chair of Parent Council, Hazel along with her co-chair, Rahima.

Transitional items:

• We were awarded monies from http://www.edu.gov.on.ca/eng/parents/reaching.html (which we applied for last year) towards a discipline workshop by Ron Morrish, author of "With all due respect."
• We were awarded monies from http://www.scoollifefund.ca/ for a hockey helmet grant we applied for last year.  Helmets to arrive next week.
• Discussed possibility of a one-off skating day for primary children and / or a Family Skate Night at the Weston Lions Arena.
• Mrs. Black to discuss with Mme. Henri and Ms. Lewis the possibility of applying for 'indoor curling' equipment for next year via http://www.scoollifefund.ca/
• The 2-4-1 pizza prize will again be used in raffle for children with no late school arrivals.
• New strict TDSB food and beverage policy.
• Toronto Schools on the Move now called "Fit for Life."

New business:

Fundraising ideas:

• Dance-A-Thon, garage sale (evening), healthy bake sale, silent auction, book-swap.

Friday lunches:

• Would like to re-introduce volunteer run Friday hot lunches.
• Start with one soup lunch on January 20th.
• Anyone interested in volunteering to help with Friday hot lunches, please call the school and leave your name and contact information with the office.
